Inside Dr. Findley’s Journey to the Mirror Ball Trophy
On April 5, 2025, Dr. Findley will swap her scrubs for dancing shoes at the 7th Annual Dancing with the Doctors Gala, a fun and exciting event that raises funds for Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care. Over the years, this event has generated more than $560,000 for worthy causes, and Dr. Findley is excited to participate! But what does it take to prepare for such an occasion? We sat down with Dr. Findley and her dance partner, Martin Rivera Baldera, to get the inside scoop on their preparations for the big night and to understand why they are so passionate about supporting Hope Health.
Why Dancing with the Doctors?
For Dr. Findley, participating in Dancing with the Doctors is about challenging herself, forming connections with people, and making a real difference in the lives of others. "I've always believed in giving back to the community," she says. "Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care provides vital support to families, including many of my patients over the years. I’m honored to participate in something that benefits such a meaningful organization.”
Martin shares similar sentiments. "Embarking on the enchanting journey of Dancing with the Doctors, Dr. Alyssa Findley and I are committed to elevating our performance as a duo, with the noble cause at the heart of our shared mission. As we prepare for the Annual Dancing with the Doctors RI Gala on April 5, 2025, at the Twin River Event Center, our goal is to inspire others to step beyond their comfort zones, give back to the community, and set a precedent for others to follow. I am profoundly grateful for Dr. Findley’s courage and determination, and I take immense pride in our collaborative effort to make a meaningful impact through the art of dance within this amazing charitable gala.”
The Dance Journey
Dr. Findley and Martin practice together every Saturday and Sunday, and although it’s intense, they have a blast during their sessions. Dr. Findley adds, "There’s definitely a lot of work involved in preparing for this, especially wear and tear in my feet! But it’s been an incredible experience filled with a lot of laughter, especially trying to get my hips to move! Martin is an amazing and patient teacher who demonstrates a commitment to bringing out the best in others.”
